How to Effectively Incorporate GIFs Into Your Content

by Chris Reid In the world of content marketing you can say a lot with words. But to stand out, sometimes you need something extra to engage your audience and make your content stand out. Today, many brands are using GIFs – the short, animated images that replay automatically on a loop – to get their messages across and build their online presence. Clips from TV shows and â€Å"reaction GIFs† have viral appeal and are soaring in popularity. You only have to look at how BuzzFeed has successfully incorporated GIFs into its content to engage its audience and drive social media shares. If you’re not using GIFs as a part of your content strategy, it could be time to start. As well, if you’re unsure of how to incorporate GIFs and want professional help, try hiring a content writer. What Exactly Is a GIF? GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format. Simply put, it’s a type of image file, but unlike a JPEG or PNG, GIFs can be animated. Animated GIFs are made up from a series of images that run in a timed loop and they’re often taken from a video clip. Because they’re perfect for showing pop culture clips and reaction shots, social media has become the natural home for GIFs. Today, GIFs are compatible with Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest and Google Plus. But for Facebook Business Pages, it’s still a work in progress. When to Use GIFs for Business There are various uses for GIFs. Here are a few of the most popular uses to pump upcontent marketing: – To add personality to your brand. If you regularly engage with customers on social media, why not use them as part of your conversations? Animated GIFs can add humor appropriatesituations and help your audience see the human side to your business. – In email marketing. Most webmail clients like Gmail and Yahoo support the GIF format and so do iOS Mail and Android mail on mobile devices. However, only use themoccasionally in emails to make them stand out. – To promote a product or service and to share exclusive news. Perhaps you’re releasing a new product or promoting an upcoming event. Use a GIF on social media to build hype. – To show people your company culture, you can use photos of certain aspects of your business to create informative or funny GIFs. It all helps to improve your credibility and trustworthiness. All Internet browsers support the GIF format, so you don’t have to limit yourself to social media when using GIFs. Use them on your homepage, in your blog (WordPress also supports GIFs) or on your product pages. Think creatively and you can come up with numerous ways to use GIFs in marketing. Consider Your Audience First Before you start using GIFs at every conceivable opportunity, think about your target audience first and your marketing goals. For example, if you’re a law firm, using a GIF on the company’s homepage could detract from your formal brand image. This is where a little audience research can go a long way. If you know your target audience are twenty-somethings, you could focus on pop-culture GIFs that your audience can relate to. If your demographic is mostly young women, a GIF from â€Å"Girls† or â€Å"Orange Is the New Black† is likely to get more shares. Whereas if your audience is predominantly younger men, â€Å"Breaking Bad† GIFs are likely to resonate more. Best Practices for Using GIFs – Make sure they reflect your marketing goals and support your calls-to-action – Use high-resolution GIFs – Work GIFs into your social media content schedule – Use them in moderation – Use them to convey emotions you can’t express in a few words – Use them to generate buzz around your messages The Bottom Line There are many online tools for creating your own GIFs and plenty of online resources that feature GIFs that are ready to use, embed or link to.But you also have to be careful not to offend your audience. Just remember that GIFs won’t suit every business and may project the wrong brand image.Using acontent writercan help you figure out the perfect moment to incorporate GIFs. But you also have to be careful not to offend your audience. Andwhen you get it right, a GIF can make you stand out from the crowd and boost brand awareness like no other form of content.

Wilkie Collins and Agatha Christie Comparison Essay Example

Wilkie Collins and Agatha Christie Comparison Essay Example Wilkie Collins and Agatha Christie Comparison Essay Wilkie Collins and Agatha Christie Comparison Essay Christie The Murder of Roger Cracked documents Hercules Parrots quest to make sense of the deaths of Mrs.. Fearers and Roger Cracked. Both novels succeed In saving the biggest surprises for the end and keep the reader guessing throughout the story. However, the two authors use different writing styles. Collins tends to have a more subtle approach to the plot of The Woman in White; his storyline lacks jolting revelations. On the other hand, Christie uses many surprising plot twists in The Murder Of Roger Cracked to keep the reader guessing. The ending of her book made it one of the most controversial novels she had ever written cause the murderer, who Is Identified at the end, Is completely unexpected. Christie uses most aspects of her novel to create social commentary and an interesting plot. All of her characters contribute to the storyline progression and confuse the reader by giving false clues. Like Christie, Collins creates many in-depth characters and multiple narrations to voice his opinions on society in The Woman in White. However, he places somewhat less emphasis on the entertainment value of his novel. Collins and Christie, when compared, show that the focus In mystery novels changed from themes and commentary to an entertaining storyline. While both Collisions The Woman In White and Christie The Murder of Roger Cracked use mystery techniques and elements for social commentary, Christie additionally uses these techniques to create an unparalleled sense of mystery for her readers entertainment. The use of narration is an important element in Christie and Collisions novels. In The Woman In White, a multitude of characters narrate the story, the main contributor being Walter Harlot. Each character reveals to the reader only the parts of the story they know or have discovered. By using this technique, Collins is blew to [investigate] issues that were central to [his] craft and [his] beliefs (London 144). Not only does he use his characters limited perspective to keep his readers in the dark, but he also uses it to explore the definition of truth. The creation of several kinds of knowledge allows Collins to demonstrate that facts can easily be distorted or misunderstood because of perspective (London 144). Collins believes that the truth can De Interpreted Transiently Trot person to person paneling on want teen want to believe and how much they know. Unlike Collins, Christie uses only one narrator wrought The Murder of Roger Cracked. Dry. Shepherds Journal is the only source from which the reader receives information. The integrity of the novel hinges upon Shepherds single narration; his clever distortion of the truth prevents virtually all readers from solving the mystery before the conclusion of the story. In the epilogue, Sheppard comments on the art of hiding his identity from the reader, claiming he is rather pleased with [himself] as a writer (Christie 287). His success effectively demonstrates that ones view of reality can be influenced by word choice. Christie, eke Collins, uses narration to her advantage and proves that ones perception can alter, or even completely hide, the truth. She takes advantage of the readers assumption that the narrator could never be the murderer by doing Just that. Collins and Christie effectively use narration to their advantage by exploring the relationship between perspective and reality. The endings of The Woman in White and The Murder of Roger Cracked display the main purposes of each novel. Christie ends her book almost immediately after the murderers identity is revealed. This style of conclusion is partially due to Hercules Parrots dramatic personality. During the investigation, he gathers facts and hides theories from other characters and the reader until he solves the mystery. He then proceeds to take the reader step by step through the murder, drawing attention to previously overlooked but important clues, and prove that the facts point indisputably to one person (Christie 275-6). To further clarify the events that take place, Dry. Sheppard includes a confession that doubles as a suicide note in his journal after Parrot accuses him of murder. His declaration of guilt is the last chapter in the novel. Christie purposely ends the book after the murderers identification because she knows a large majority of her fans read The Murder Of Roger Cracked for entertainment. Parrot solves the murder and all secrecy dissipates, since almost all of the mystery in the novel revolves around the murderers identity. Christie ends the book with the closing of the case to cater to the readers interest. However, she still adds generous amounts of social commentary to her novel before its conclusion. The Muter of Roger Cockroachs explosive ending combined with its intriguing insight helped it become and extremely controversial novel. Like Christie, Collins fills The Woman in White with commentary, which continues even after the climax of the book occurs. Harry Quilter believes that the novel disappointingly continues after Focis confession of his share in the conspiracy, even though he claims it is perhaps the best scene fiction writing has ever seen and would have been a great ending to the book (178). He also thinks that after Count Focis death, the book ends as far as all interest is concerned (178). From the point of view of a reader looking for entertainment, the ending of the book is disappointing and anticlimactic. However, Collins novel does not revolve around Count Focis mysterious past. Collins places more value on social commentary than plot, which is why the climax is not at the end. Although full of suspense and surprises, the main purpose of The Woman in White is not to create an exciting ending; it is to provide interesting social commentary. The ending to The Woman in White demonstrates Collisions attempt to place as much insight as possible into his book, whereas the end to The Murder of Roger Cracked Allays concretes effort to simultaneously provoke social commentary Ana please deader with a satisfying ending. Christie and Collins use different writing techniques in their novels to enhance their power. Christie is famous for unexpected plot twists at the end of her books; The Murder of Roger Cracked is the best example of her originality. She confuses her readers with seemingly trivial clues to add to the air of mystery surrounding Cockroachs murder, such as a man believed to be the stranger who visited Ferny the night of the murder (209). Her novel turns on a piece of misdirection and a solution, which [is] strikingly innovatory (Lucerne 117). Her ingenuity is and visual, which is why she was able to create such a groundbreaking story at a time when critics believed that the detective genre was decline (Symons 123). Leaving the biggest plot twist until the end allowed Christie to takes readers completely by surprise and emphasizes the impact of the conclusion. On the other hand, Collins uses a more subtle approach to his novel. His characters are consistent in their actions and beliefs. His plot is not overburdened with unreasonable plot twists. The storyline is linear and logical. His moderation and reserve and avoidance of extremes make the novel realistic and relatable to readers; these techniques make the lights and shadows of the picture doubly effective (Sensation Novels 173). Collisions subtle plot creates more excitement than those filled mostly with unnecessary suspense, which tend to detract from a novels rationality. Because of his logical plot, Collins does not have to worry about an explosive ending to The Woman in White. Instead, he has room to focus on social commentary throughout his novel, such as the value he places on intellect rather than physical strength and the difference between propriety and appearance. Christie writing style draws attention to her famous plot twists, while Collisions style plays up his insightful observations. Collins and Christie use gender roles differently in their novels to cater to either social commentary or the plot. Collisions characters, for example, generally do not comply with typical masculine or feminine stereotypes. One exception is Laura, who represents women in Victorian literature. Her confinement in the asylum displays Collisions dissatisfaction with the stereotypes women are typically associated with. On the other hand, Marinas inborn confidence in herself and in her position, which old have secured her the respect of the most audacious man breathing, portrays a personality that surpasses the feminine typecasts of the Victorian era (Collins 26). Her masculine mouth and Jaw and prominent, piercing eyes also contribute to the blurring of male and female characteristics in The Woman in White (Collins 24). Through his characters gender ambiguity, Collins displays his feminism and belief that stereotypes are commonly inaccurate. Christie female characters in The Murder of Roger Cracked are noticeably more stereotypical than Collisions. Marty S. Innkeeper argues that Christie frequently suggests a womans true vocation is marriage and motherhood through the empty-headed and gossipy women in her novels (73). Indeed, Caroline, one of The Murder of Roger Cockroachs lead female characters, is a stereotypical busybody and gossip who takes care of her brother, Dry. Sheppard. At the same time, Carolinas knowledge is extremely valuable, especially to Parrot, who frequents her for information throughout his investigation. Her vast awareness keeps the plot moving and supplies the reader with useful information. Seen alternately AAAS mystery to ten novel Decease It Is not Known winner near information can be trusted. Carolinas ability to do any amount of finding out by sitting placidly at home does not imply that Christie is an anti-feminist (Christie 10). Although Christie respects women, she uses stereotypes to help move the plot of The Murder of Roger Cracked along. Collins uses his characters to display his feminist beliefs, whereas Christie stereotypes her main female character to add intrigue to her plot. The main characters in The Murder of Roger Cracked and The Woman in White have similar purposes in their novels. Collins uses characters such as Count Fiasco for social commentary and dramatic effect. Fiasco, who sees nothing ridiculous in the amazing contrast between his colossal self and his frail little pets, is clearly not a stereotypically gentleman (Collins 195). Through Fiasco, Collins asserts his belief that a person can have masculine and feminine traits. T. S. Eliot believes that characters like Fiasco make The Woman in White dramatic in the way in which the dramatic differs from the melodramatic (182). The characters periodically heightened emotions contrast sharply with the otherwise subtle storyline, creating Just the right amount of excitement for Collisions plot. Like Collins, Christie uses Parrot to add dramatic effect. Simply put, the Belgian is incredibly entertaining. Everything about him is odd, from his short stature and egg-shaped head to his obsession with two immense moustaches (Christie 27). However, underneath the comical exterior is an extremely astute detective with a knack for building suspense. His methods are imaginative rather than routine and he strongly values theory over matter (Haystack 118). He enjoys bothering his fellow investigators with seemingly trivial questions, the answers to which are surprisingly relevant to solving Cockroachs murder. Parrot is dramatic; he chooses not to reveal any information he has gathered until he is sure of the murderers identity and then proceeds to tie up any loose ends. The Murder of Roger Cracked contains so much suspense and mystery largely thanks to Parrot, who never blatantly hints at the murderer throughout the novel. Both Christie and Collins use main characters to help enhance their plots, although Collins uses his for commentary more than Christie. The villains Christie and Collisions novels are both used for similar social commentary, but Sheppard is much more important to the mystery of The Murder of Roger Cracked than Fiasco is to The Woman in White. Fiasco is, by nature, charismatic and droll. His ability to flatter [Marina]s vanity by talking to [her] as seriously and sensibly as if [she] were a man is an example of how he charm his peers (Collins 197). His appeal makes it difficult for readers to accept that he is so diabolically in the wrong (Sensation Novels 174). Collins, through Fiasco, explores the ease with which less reputable people can appear charming, and implies that many immoral people possess these traits. He concludes that people are born uncorrupted with these traits, but become dishonorable with the realization that they can take advantage of others by using said traits. Dry. Sheppard shares this trait with Fiasco and exemplifies it by murdering Cracked. Sheppard is clearly intelligent and has many clever ideals] throughout the novel (Christie 284). He kills Cracked because he assures himself that he has the intelligence, foresight, and charm to avoid being caught. However, the doctor is not only used for social commentary. Shepherds aptitude Ana personality are essential to malignantly Intrigue tonguing ten novel. Since he is the only narrator, it is imperative that he seem less knowledgeable than e really is to hide his true identity. Both Sheppard and Christie rely on his ingenuity, which is amplified when the reader realizes the secret he has kept for the entire novel. While both Fiasco and Sheppard share the same traits, Christie uses Shepherds charm and wit to prolong his villainous identity. The Woman in White and The Murder of Roger Cracked demonstrate the effective use of mystery techniques to create equally thrilling and insightful novels. While Collins is considered to be the father of the mystery novel, Christie is Just as renowned for her cleverness and originality. Both authors include valuable social commentary in their novels. However, the amount of importance placed on the identity of the murderer in Roger Cracked requires Christie to take advantage of her characters and use them to create more confusion. In contrast to Christie, who typically ends her books dramatically, Collisions novel has a subtler air of mystery and places less emphasis on the biggest secret of the book. This allows him to focus on insightful conclusions about subjects such as appearance versus reality. Christie is still able to make perceptive observations in The Murder of Roger Cracked, but caters o her audience by creating a thrilling plot and an unpredictable ending.

Literature Review and Annotated Bibliography Thesis

Literature Review and Annotated Bibliography - Thesis Example t will have to consider a number of repercussions before she or he can decide to report the domestic violence to social service agencies, or even the police. For example, Fisman and Edward (2008) explain that when the undocumented immigrant reports the violence to the police, she may risk deportation because she is not residing genuinely in the United States. This will make her suffer more, mainly because she is unable to gain protection from the state or federal agencies responsible for protecting people residing in the United States (Muniz, 214). Furthermore, most male Hispanic figures are aware of this limitation, and on this basis, they will continue abusing their women, and imposing their dominance against them. Fisman and Edward (2008) has a different view of this situation. Bergad and Herbert (2010) explains that even amongst the documented Hispanic families, there is a high rate of domestic violence. This is despite the aggrieved parties constantly reporting this violence to the police, and to social agencies responsible for protecting the welfare of the vulnerable. Fisman and Edward (2008) therefore dismiss the notion that there are high rates of domestic violence amongst the undocumented immigrants because of their immigration status which is illegal in the United States. Bergad and Herbert (2010) believe that the major reason of domestic violence amongst the Hispanic people is poverty. Tienda and Faith (2006) provides an explanation that most Hispanic individuals are living in poverty, in the United States. This is mainly because most of them are immigrants, and when they enter United States, they normally do not have any stable sources of income. Furthermore, majority of the Hispanic people are undocumented immigrants, and on this basis, they are always unable to acquire good jobs, because they do not have supporting documents that can enable them get the jobs under consideration. This situation contributes to poverty amongst the Hispanic community.

Ethics - Essay Example But the virtue which is made up of these goods, when they are severed from wisdom and exchanged with one another, is a shadow of virtue only, nor is there any freedom or health or truth in her†¦Ã¢â‚¬ Socrates did not fear death nor the danger of death. Reasoning practically, he said that he did not fear death as a soldier, and it would be strange if he feared death as a philosopher. In the Apology, Socrates was quoted as saying the following: â€Å"For the fear of death is indeed the pretence of wisdom, and not real wisdom, being a pretence of knowing the unknown; and no one knows whether death, which men in their fear apprehend to be the greatest evil, may not be the greatest good.† Furthermore, Socrates said that death should not be feared because nobody knows if it is good or bad. To him, death appears to be good, because it is either a deep sleep (the absence of consciouness), or a new life with those who had gone before. For Socrates, the first is a beneficial rest, while the second is an opportunity to converse with the great minds and discuss many lofty issues. It is a further chance to seek knowledge and wisdom. It is Socrates’ reasoning that fear and wisdom could not co-exist, that fear is the absence of wisdom. But since he also said that virtue could not exist without wisdom, then fear and morality could not also co-exist. A moral man is a virtuous man, and in the absence of wisdom there is also an absence of virtue. that you engaged in the kind of practice as a result of which you now risk dying?’†, to which he answered that he did not care for the collective opinion of men, only whether what he did what was good or bad. In this context, â€Å"shame† meant public embarrassment. Advantages and Disadvantages of Family Types

Advantages and Disadvantages of Family Types Individual Family culture VS Traditional Family Culture.   Advantages Of The Nuclear Family While discussing about the advantages and disadvantages of nuclear family, the first and foremost point pops up in the mind of a person is privacy of life.   Privacy:  The couple can get their privacy in their own house in nuclear families whereas you cannot get your privacy in a joint family. People can live their own way and can do whatever they want to. There are no such boundaries set by the elders to follow.   Financial stability:  When we talk about the advantages and disadvantages of the nuclear family, then financial stability is one of the strongest points in the nuclear family. One can be financially strong because of limited expenses. There is less number of people in the nuclear family and hence less expenses. You cannot have a strong financial stability if you are the only person who is earning in a joint family.   Freedom:  The elders restricts youngsters not to do certain tasks because they think this is not good for them. But today’s generation is very smart. They know what is good and bad for them and have enough analytical power so they don’t like to restrict themselves. Instead, they want their freedom so that they can do and achieve whatever they want in their life.   Ease in moving:  When you have a nuclear family, you face fewer problems while shifting from a house. You can manage your things according to you without disturbing the lives of other people. This is one of the major advantages of the nuclear family.   Avoidance of stress and discomfort:  Some people are emotional. They can’t tolerate any kind of fun that is on them and in the joint family, one need to have much high patience. But, nuclear families has the advantage that if you live in the company of those with whom you are very comfortable then there is no need to take any stress and your discomfort also get vanished in a moment.   Disadvantages Of The Nuclear Family While thinking about the advantages and disadvantages of the nuclear family, a person should also think that it is not always good to live in a nuclear family. At certain points, you realize the value of joint family. Here are those points which will teach you the importance of joint family and disadvantages of nuclear families.   No care:  If the parents are working and children suffered from any small or big disease, then one needs to deal with it alone as they don’t have elders and other family members to take care of. This is the major disadvantage of the nuclear family. One is alone and feels even sicker when he sees no one around. Problems to children:  If your child is small and needs special care, then at that point, you will definitely find the nuclear family not good enough. You will always think that if you were in a joint family then this condition would never arise as you have other family members who can take care of the child and in the mean time, you can do your work. Security and safety:  Security is one another disadvantage in the nuclear family. People feel insecure in the nuclear family. There are so many cases of robbery and murders and many of them are from nuclear family itself, as it is easier to grab someone who lives alone in a house or with less number of people. No support:  When we talk about the advantages and disadvantages of nuclear family, support is the thing one will always miss. If there is an argument between the couple then there is no one to support any one of them. They have to deal with their problem alone without any support. Sometimes due to open nature and ego, the fight results in divorce or separation because there was no one to make them understand the basics of a relationship. Extra Expenses: When you live in a community or in a joint family, then you have the liability to keep other happy and familiar to you. In order to do this, you need to do some extra expenses. Suppose, you bring some gift for your child then it is also important to bring some gift for other children in the family. TRADITION FAMILY CULTURE:- In an extended  family, parents and their childrens families may often live under a single roof. This type of  joint family  often includes multiple generations in the  family. From culture to culture, the variance of the term may have different meanings. Advantages of Joint Families Cradle of social virtues: Joint family is like a nursery to teach social virtues. It helps to develop social virtues like co-operation, sympathy, sacrifice, affection, spirit of selfless service, obedience and broadminded. Insurance against olds: Joint Family Acts as insurance for the members of the family at the time of crisis. It provides social security to its members especially to the old, the infirm, the unemployed persons, the orphans, the widowed daughters and sisters as well as the physical and mentally handicapped among them. For all such persons the joint family acts as an insurance company. Division of labour: In a joint family each member is given work according to his or her capacity. The men, women and children all have to work. For example, in a peasant joint family all the members work actively according to their ability. The old persons and children of the family watch the crops in the field. During the harvest season, the women in some families help in harvesting. This there is no need of procuring labour from outside the family. Socialism in Wealth: According to Sir Henry Maine joint family is like a co-operative society with the father as the trustee. Every member in the joint family works conforming to the well established socialist formula; each works according to his or her ability and gets according to his or her needs. Avoids fragmentation of land: Joint family avoids the evils or fragmentation of land by holding the property in common. Joint family is almost like a joint-stock company. An agency of social control: Another advantage of joint family is that it acts as an agency of social control. In joint family there is a close supervision over the anti-social and unsocial activities of the young member. Opportunity for leisure: Joint family affords ample leisure to its members. Both the male and female members divide the household works and finish it in a short time spending the rest of the day in leisure. They never feel over burdened. Money saving device: Joint family is advantageous from the economic viewpoint. This system helps in securing economy in expenditure. Since things are consumed in a large quantity they can be obtained at cheap rate. A large family can be maintained within a small means if it lives jointly. Disadvantages of Joint Family Home for Idler: Joint family rests on collective responsibility. This sometimes accounts for laziness among some members. No doubt the active members do hard work. But when they get equal share in the food cooked at the common hearth, some members may become lazy and may not feel the necessity of doing any productive work. They spend their time in eating, sleeping and begetting children. Hindrance in the development of personality: Joint family hinders the development of personality. Under the joint family system the head of the family or Karta is all in all. He is the sole authority to take any decision in family affairs. Other members, especially the   juniors do not get a chance to think independently to take any independent decision. Thus development of personality is arrested. Favours uncontrolled reproduction: Joint family is said to be associated with higher birth rate. Member does not feel the need of birth control because the children rest on the family as a whole. Hot bed of quarrel: Joint family is the hotbed of quarrels and bickering. Quarrels are common among the female members of the family. Quarrels between the wives of brother, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is very common. Source of litigation: Sometimes joint-family system encourages, litigation. At the time of the partition of movable or immovable property in the family dispute assumes serious proportion and most of the time these are not settled without the interference of the court of law. Loss of privacy: Over crowdedness in joint family kills one’s privacy. The newly married man and his wife hardly get the time to meet and talk rarely in joint family. Low position of women: Under the joint family system the woman is relegated to low status. Her condition in the family is worse. Particularly the condition of a daughter-in-law is very miserable. She is often ill-treated by her mother-in-law. Her life is no way better than that of a slave. In many cases, the ill treatment by the elderly women becomes so unbearable that they seek a permanent relief in committing suicide.

Surrealism and Salvador Dali Essay -- Salvador Dali Artists Painters P

Surrealism and Salvador Dali Salvador Dali, was born Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dali i Domenech on Monday, 11 May 1904, in the small Spanish town of Figueres, in the foothills of the Pyrenees, approximately sixteen miles from the French border in a region known as Catalonia. His parents supported his talent and built him his first studio while he was still a child in their summer home at Cadaques. Dali went on to attend the San Fernando Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid, Spain. He was married to Gala Eluard in 1934 and died on 23 January 1989 in a hospital in Figueres (Etherington-Smith, 12). Dali never limited himself to one style or particular medium. Beginning with his early impressionistic works, greatest inspiration. Surrealism emerged from what was left of Dada (a European movement categorized by its irrationality and lack of traditional values, sometimes referred to as nihilistic) in the mid 1920’s and unlike Dada, Surrealism held a promising and more positive view of art and because of this it won many converts. Surrealism actually got its beginnings as a literary, not artistic, trend in Parisian publications (Stangos, 122). What Surrealism and Dadaism held in common was their belief in the importance of the unconscious mind and its manifestations, as was stressed by Freud. They both believed that through the unconscious mind a plethora of artistic imagery would be unveiled. Both of these , called automatism. The Surrealists also wanted to answer the ques...

To Write a Proper and Well-Constructed Resume

Generally, a resume is a list of credentials that serves as an introduction to those who will hopefully employ a person for a particular job or position. To write a proper and well-constructed resume is often a rather daunting task, due to the need to thoroughly assess one's personality, accomplishments and acquired skills. The act of composing and submitting a resume also requires a careful consideration of the company that might be one's future employer. A person must know exactly what the company is looking for and if his/her qualifications meet the company's overall needs. But writing the resume is but one crucial step in the process, yet it is the most important element which will eventually lead to a new job or position. A poorly written resume often results in a negative response from employers, yet a well-written and conceived resume can influence the employer or interviewer to ask about one's strengths and the skills that a person can bring to a prospective employer. Even a person with little or no experience can find a good job is he/she is helped by a thoughtful and well-polished resume. In today's modern world, employers do not have the time nor the patience to read lengthy and disorganized resumes, for in reality, they look for tightly-composed, straightforward and action-based resumes. Although a one-page resume is the normal type, a two-pager may be needed if the person seeking employment has extensive work experience or has changed careers and requires the proper space to relate their accomplishments and work experience. According to â€Å"Writing Resume Tips,† the following traits must be part of every successful resume-careful proofreading with attention paid to spelling, punctuation, grammar and style; all information must be organized in a logical fashion; all descriptions must be clear and to the point; simple and easy to read fonts are mandatory, such as New Times Roman, Palatino, Helvetica and Arial; if possible, the resume must be confined to one single page; always include as much work experience as possible, even if it does not relate directly to the job one is seeking; all information must be tailored to the job one is seeking, and lastly, if one is not sure on how to proceed with the writing of a resume, always seek out professional assistance, either at school or the local library (Jobweb, Internet). Of course, knowing exactly what to include in a resume is an art in itself, for everything depends on a person's â€Å"individual career goals as well as one the professional goals of the companies hiring in (one's) area or field of interest. † Thus, through â€Å"research, planning, questioning and self-reflection,† a person will be able to create a well-written and positively-viewed resume (â€Å"Your Resume: General Concerns,† Internet). There are three types of resumes that are currently being used by students fresh from the university and by professional persons seeking new positions or changing their careers. The first is called the reverse chronological resume in which the most recent job or position is listed first. This is the type of resume usually preferred by employers who have to read a large number of resumes and it is by far the most popular and widely circulated. However, this type of resume may not be the most effective means of highlighting one's skills and accomplishments. A second type of resume is known as the functional resume which is generally used by those re-entering the workforce after many years or trying to change career fields. This type places the focus on achievements instead of the sequence of one's work history as in the chronological resume. In the functional resume, a person's experience is presented via general accomplishments and the skills developed over one's entire working life. Also, the functional resume is organized quite differently. For example, the work experience section is divided in two with job duties and accomplishments making up one section; the second section contains the basic elements of one's work history and comes after the accomplishments section which is often called â€Å"employment history,† due to being a chronological overview of former jobs and positions. In today's technological age, there is now another type of resume known as the electronic resume which is cut and pasted in an email and transmitted as part of the email message. Generally, this type of resume contains no formatting-â€Å"Whatever was bold becomes regular type; underlining, italics, centering and justification disappear, and the resume ends up being transmitted in the font designed for emailing† (Eyler, Resumes for Success, 67). However, under exceptional circumstances, a person may opt to create a generic resume which contains no industry-specific information and is meant to appeal to a wide range of organizations and companies. For the most part, all of these type of resumes, with the exception of the electronic type, contain two important sections-first, the primary section, made up of an introduction, experience and education, and then the secondary section which may contain the objective, professional honors and awards, publications, computer skills, professional organizations, community activities, club memberships, volunteer positions, college work experience, military experience and some personal information such as supportive references (Eyler, Resumes for Success, 78). Obviously, the three most important elements of any well-organized resume are the introduction which gives the potential employer some basic background information on exactly which job or position is being sought, the experience section which details a person's work history and the education section which highlights a person's educational achievements at the high school, local community college and university levels. The experience section of a resume describes the work that a person has performed throughout his/her working life or career and thus appears first on the resume. However, if a person is changing careers, his/her work experience may be completely unrelated to the type of job or position being sought which makes the education section more important, thereby placing it before the experience section. Also, if a person has held a position in which certain degrees or related documents were required for employment, such as in law, medicine, engineering or management, the resume must begin with the education section. If a resume is begun with the work experience section, it should be in reverse chronological order, starting with the most current or recent employer. This section must also include accomplishments and duties via what type of work was done, what was achieved and how an employer benefited from one's accomplishments on the job. Special consideration should be given to supervision, such as holding some type of management position in which one supervised or managed a number of people along with the specific title one held (Eyler, Resumes for Success, 95). Following the primary section, the resume then offers more information on various personal traits. With the objective, this statement refers to the type of position one is seeking, but often it is omitted, due to limiting the types of positions which may be offered to the prospective employee by the company or institution. When describing the job objective, it is a good idea to keep it extremely simple and direct and to make certain that it tells the employer what one wants to do within a company. Professional honors and awards can also be included in the objective, but only if they relate to the position being sought. For instance, a person applying as a manager in the automotive business might include awards from major automobile manufacturers or recognition for some type of innovative change. A person might also include any type of publishing credentials, especially those related to the position one is seeking. Since today's world is so reliant on technology, it is a good idea to include a short description on one's computer skills, particularly if the skills are related to programs essential to engineering or statistical management. Professional organizations can often play important roles, for they demonstrate â€Å"a sincere interest and commitment to one's career and reflect real involvement in a person's chosen field of specialty† (Eyler, Resumes for Success, 124). The same holds true for community activities, club memberships and voluntary activities outside of the work environment, and by mentioning them, it may be beneficial if the position one is seeking requires strong social skills, such as in management and personnel recruitment. For those seeking to change careers and recent university graduates, including college work experience on a resume can make all the difference, for the potential employer will see that the person seeking the job or position was highly interested as a student in a particular vocation, especially if there is an indication that the work experience was as an intern, meaning that it was unpaid and voluntary. Of course, military experience can often be highly influential, for some employers may be veterans or currently hold reserve status in the National Guard or Coast Guard. One final piece of advice has to do with mentioning memberships in organizations that indicate a person's religion, such as Masonic lodges or fraternities, and political preference, such as a member of a political party. In the field of management, the narrative paragraph adds the finishing touch to most resumes and is designed to provide â€Å"key information about one's abilities, including any advanced or specialized education, publishing credentials and speaking engagements, all of which usually greatly impressive prospective employers† (Eyler, Resumes for Success, 126). When composing the narrative, those seeking positions in management should try to include descriptive statements that pertain to one's accomplishments, responsibilities and personal strengths. For example, a resume could mention that the prospective employee is an innovative and energetic leader, a skilled communicator and team builder; an accomplished expert at organizational repositioning and the development of strategic initiatives; an accomplished corporate strategist; has demonstrated leadership abilities to develop and implement solutions that improve sales and revenues; an expert at identifying and capturing business in high-growth market segments; accomplished at managing diverse groups, people and situations and an expert at human resources development, motivation and management. In conclusion, a resume is an extremely subjective document, and while its primary goal is to illustrate a potential employee's strengths, accomplishments and capabilities, the exact way to present these traits depends on the interviewer/employer. However, a well-constructed and written resume will always be appreciated by potential employers, for it not only demonstrates a person's organizational abilities but also illuminates one's dedication and perseverance to the often agonizing pursuit of finding the right job or position. To Write a Proper and Well-Constructed Resume Generally, a resume is a list of credentials that serves as an introduction to those who will hopefully employ a person for a particular job or position. An article citing the reasons the line under god should be removed from the pledge of allegiance.

An article citing the reasons the line under god should be removed from the pledge of allegiance. ...One Nation, Uh, Indivisible...Two words in the Pledge of Allegiance - "under god" - have sparked a firestorm from the schools of California to the halls of the Supreme Court, which will decide next June about the legality of the phrase. In a diverse country with a great variety of religious faiths running the gamut from devoted believers to atheists, issues of government and religion are a touchy subject. However, it is clear that the phrase is unconstitutional, and removing it will restore the Pledge to its original meaning. The most obvious contention against the "under god" clause is that it violates the Constitutional separation of church and state. Mandating young children in public schools to pledge their allegiance to a nation "under god" is an unmistakable confirmation of a governmental belief in god. As the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled, the phrase "under god" is as biased and unconstitutional as would be the phrases "under Zeus," or "under Allah."Pledge Bench - Leice sterAlthough everyone is certainly entitled to their own rights and beliefs, the daily repetition of a phrase establishing a public belief in religion is both insulting to and excluding of atheists. Most of those who believe in a god have no way to understand the exclusion often felt by those who do not. Imagine that instead of confirming the existence of a god, the Pledge specifically denied this belief. If American schoolchildren repeated the phrase, "one nation, under no god whatsoever," every school day the outcry from religious people would be deafening. It seems ludicrous to imagine schools publicly denying the existence of a god; it is just as ludicrous for schools to publicly proclaim the existence of such a god. However, many people, including many prominent politicians, have said that to remove the phrase would be ridiculous...

Essay Sample on Trans-Atlantic Counterterrorism Policies

Essay Sample on Trans-Atlantic Counterterrorism Policies Advances in Trans-Atlantic Counterterrorism In his remarks opening a meeting of the House Subcommittee on Europe, Representative Elton Gallegly stated, â€Å"since September 11th, our partnership with Europe has become even more vital as we seek common strategies and solutions for the plague of global terrorism.† Although this could be said for many U.S. allies in its Global War on Terrorism, the Trans-Atlantic partnership is of particular importance. The similar and parallel foreign policies of the U.S. and many European countries in the past demonstrate that the commonality of combating terrorism is yet another area of cooperation for these two world powers. It is the very definition of counterterrorist (CT) referring to offensive measures taken to prevent, deter, and respond to terrorist acts (including sanctuary denial, hostage rescue, and other terrorist suppression) that requires cooperation to pursue its goals. The history of U.S.-European CT efforts displays the cooperation involved in such missions. Some of the earlier examples of CT cooperation include the decades-old military exchange between United States CT forces and British CT forces, and the co-basing of the U.S. hostage rescue team with British CT forces in Egypt. These events surrounding the Iran Hostage Rescue Mission were the very birth of the United States CT capability. Such cooperation has continued since the early 1980s and strengthened after September 11, 2001. Additionally, due to the nature of the world’s modern financial infrastructure, international cooperation is essential to combating terrorist financing. Just as the U.S. and its allies froze Iranian assets during the 1979-1981 hostage crisis, the international community, and Europe in particular, performed similar actions after September 11, 2001. According to Senator John Kerry, â€Å"until October 2001, we did more damage to bin Laden and his terrorist enterprise by destroying his money laundering efforts than we did by firing missiles at tents in the desert.† Since recent events, Europe has acted in line with U.S. policy by cutting down the options terrorists use to finance their operations. Finally, despite the current Trans-Atlantic rift concerning U.S. policy in Iraq, the bonds formed from effective cooperation in the area of counterterrorism could surpass the frustrations of this delicate aspect of Middle East policy. Indeed, due to the necessary counterterrorist operations involved in rebuilding Iraq, it might be those cooperative efforts which could form coalitions and strengthen ties. The essence of this reinforced counterterrorism relationship could be the unwavering foundation for lasting democratic peace despite the current Trans-Atlantic rift over policy in Iraq. Explain and illustrate, using graphs, the effect on economic Research Paper

Explain and illustrate, using graphs, the effect on economic efficiency of government prices control and taxes. include an example of a government price control - Research Paper Example Together these two concepts form the basis of economic efficiency. Economic efficiency is nothing but the presence of both production and allocative efficiency. Production efficiency is another name of cost efficiency. The term can be mathematically defined as following: The figures 1.a and 1.b above show the necessary conditions for productive efficiency. In Figure 1.a, productive efficiency is achieved where point MC curve has intersected the ATC (Average Total Cost) curve. At this point, the production of Q1 goods is going to cost the least and at this point productive efficiency will be obtained. The same is shown in Figure 1.b. The point where MC interests the ATC curve is the point where the firm is experiencing the minimum possible costs. Any production at this point is going to achieve the necessary conditions for productive efficiency. The allocative efficiency is always achieved at a point where the minimum amount of effort produces the maximum result. In other words, any change in resources are not going to increase the output because the currently employed resources are producing the maximum output. If there is room for increasing production by changing the resource allocation, then the point of allocative efficiency is not achieved. In figure 2, the point â€Å"C† is not allocative efficiency because resources are underemployed and output can be increased by employing more resource. However, Point â€Å"A† and â€Å"B† are both allocative efficient because resources are producing the maximum output. There is no room for the increase of the production at this point until there is technology advancement or increase in the population, both of which are long-term considerations. Economic efficiency can be looked at from another point of view. Economic efficiency can be described as something that maximizes the benefit of a transaction for both producers and consumers. The benefits for consumer and producers can be looked upon as consumer and
